The building is listed and protected by the Italian Arts Council and Italian Heritage Association. Located in the historical centre of Rome overlooking the famous church of Santa Maria Maggiore. As the building is protected i.e. the owners are not allowed to build an elevator consequently please let us know if you need a room on the ground floor. (the hotel has 4 floors no elevator / lift.) The Hotel has a long and illustrious history which you may read about on the history pages, here you may well find the names of prominent and famous personalities particulary religious figures (the Hotel Cappellette has its own church inside - private tours may be arranged with the concierge) Many apostolic activities took place here and during its time as the "Palazzo Borromeo" the ball room and internal courtyard was extensively used for many high-society meetings, dinners and balls. Now known as the Hotel Cappellette the building has been restored to its former glory and is a quite unique hotel in Rome in terms of the antiquity of the property and its religious past.
